Olive Green; Neutral or Not?

Black, shades of white, grey, brown, taupe, tan and denim are all neutrals. They can be combined with many other non-neutrals to create visual harmony because of their Earthy grounding effect. They can also be combined with other neutrals.

Then there is olive green. Olive green is the dark, dirty shade of green. Although green is not a neutral, olive green’s earthiness makes it an unexpected neutral color. It is a warmer neutral to replace black with more visual effect than white. Olive actually pairs incredibly well with so many colors!

I rarely wear monochromatic outfits but I felt like this ones just worked well. Plus this way, I could highlight this lovely mustard crinkle hijab.

I also found this super simple colorful layered necklace in a small shop in Egypt. It was exactly what I needed to complete this outfit!

Do you feel olive green is a neutral? What are your favourite colors to pair with it?
