Very soon many women will be taking on one of the biggest challenges of the year..... SPRING CLEANING! This can be the most stressful but rewarding task. Cleaning out your closet can be tedious! "I can wear these when I lose the weight.", "What if it comes back in style?", " I just need the right place to wear it.", and more questions will be running through your mind. Here are 7 questions to ask yourself to make the process so much easier!
1. DOES THIS FIT?
A proper fit is a must. Clothes that are too loose and baggy or too tight are not flattering. Ensure your pants hug you in the right places and your tops, are perfect length, button up right and fit perfectly in the shoulders.
2. HAVE YOU WORN THIS IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS?
Chances are if you haven't worn this item of clothing in the past year, you won't wear it in the year to come. Surely, you have items in your closet that haven't been worn in 2 years, 3 years, maybe eve 10 years. Time to let them go!
3. IS IT LIKELY I WILL EVER WEAR IT AGAIN?
Many people hang on to clothing items waiting for the right time to wear them again. Have you lost or gained weight? Have you started or left a job? Has your lifestyle changed? Do your clothing items still fit your needs?
4. IS IT CURRENTLY IN STYLE? DOES IT ACCURATELY REPRESENT MY PERSONAL STYLE?
Fads come and go but style doesn't have to change. Your style is an outward projection of who you are on the inside. You can take "fashionable" items and make them fit your own personal style. Take a look in your closet and see if each item represents who you are. If not, move on!
5. IS IT DAMAGED IN ANY WAY?
We may ignore a small tear, missing button, stain, etc. What you may think is not noticable can make you look messy and not put together. Unless you actually plan on fixing the tear, replacing the button or having the item tailored then take it out of your closet. They won't fix themselves!
6. IF I WAS SHOPPING RIGHT NOW, WOULD I BUY THIS?
This is a simple and straightforward question. Is this item something you would be drawn to now?
7. DO I FEEL CONFIDENT WHEN I WEAR THIS?
You should feel confident in anything you wear. If what you have put on doesn't make you feel beautiful, fabulous, confident and ready to take on the day then you shouldn't be wearing it.
